This weekend we'll be busy getting crafty all over Arizona! March is National Crafts Month, so we're celebrating by hosting a variety of activities for kids, teens and adults. Crafts are a great way to spend some quality time and bring the family together, so roll up your sleeves, check out what's happening this weekend at Bookmans, and get ready to get your hands dirty!
In Tucson at the 2010 Festival of Books, we'll be promoting literacy and fighting censorship – all while decorating tote bags at our Kids' Tent! From 9:30 a.m. to noon, and again from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. each day, stop by with the kiddos and decorate a fabulous, free canvas bag. For the adults, we'll be creating a huge community art project in the name of fighting censorship, and we need your help. Come on over and give us your favorite book recommendation to participate in this great project... and pick up a free t-shirt while you're there!
Today and tomorrow in Tucson, we're welcoming the Tucson Quilters Guild to help you create a family heirloom to snuggle away this icky winter weather. Swan from the guild will share her style and talent, and help you find yours, over at our Speedway store from 10:00 a.m. to noon each day. Don't miss out on this terrific workshop.
In our Phoenix store, we'll be teaching the ancient art of paper folding, origami. On Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, we're welcoming adults only for a grownup origami class. The Arizona Origami Society will help you learn or perfect this art, no matter what your skill level is. No reservations are required, and we'll provide all the materials. Just bring your hands and an open mind!
In Mesa, get a new pet on Saturday – a new pet rock, that is! Paint your own ladybug rock for yourself or someone else. Make them as shelf decorations, paperweights or just for giggles... join us at 10:00 a.m. to get your own easy-to-care-for pet!
Up in the chilly north of Flagstaff, we're trying to coax spring in with our kids' spring crafts at the Downtown Public Library! We'll be decorating small ceramic watering cans with non-toxic paints and stencils, and planting seeds in our beautiful new watering can planters, so that our art can bloom all spring long! Don't miss this free, family-friendly event for all ages from noon to 2:00 p.m.
