March 2nd is Theodor Seuss Geisel’s actual birthday! In honor of this great writer and illustrator and his classic works, Bookmans in Flagstaff hosted their Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party at the Downtown Flagstaff Public Library, and it was a great hit. Kids listened to many of the classics, including "Green Eggs and Ham," "The Lorax," "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?," "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," and the well-loved "Cat in the Hat," a book using 250 words that Seuss’ friend and textbook editor, William Ellsworth Spaulding, derived from a literacy report that all 1st graders should know. Spaulding dared Seuss to use 250 of these essential words to write a children’s book, and still make the book entertaining. Nine months after the dare, Seuss had written The Cat in the Hat!
We're working on replenishing our inventory at Bookmans Flagstaff. You probably all know by now that in January, a severe winter storm was the cause of a large roof collapse at our Flagstaff store, which has temporarily shut down our store. While our employees are working in the warehouse to salvage as much of our inventory as possible, we will need new inventory to re-stock our shelves when we open again. So, Bookmans Flagstaff needs your help. We want your stuff!
Bookmans Flagstaff is starting the exciting process of local inventory acquisition today. Since the books can't come to Bookmans, Bookmans is going to the books (and DVDs, videogames, CDs, LPs etc)! We are very excited to be making house calls to get new inventory. Armed with our outstanding and knowledgeable buyers, a trade book and checkbook, we are ready to invade your home and take away the things you would normally have to bring to us! We are looking for all the regular stuff you’ve been hording, as well as the unique treasures you've been hiding in your garage or attic. Maybe you put off bringing that large item in because it was a hassle to transport? Well, now is your chance!
