Join us at Reid Park this Saturday, Oct. 10th, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., to celebrate Pride in the Desert, a fun community event that attracts over 6,500 participants each year! Bookmans will be there promoting diversity and offering all sorts of goodies including t-shirts and coupon cards.
The International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival is preparing for its fifth year and is returning to Tempe. The festival will be moving to MADCAP Theaters on Mill Avenue in Tempe, where it will take place October 15-18, 2009.
Bookmans will be at the Southern Arizona Home Builders Home Show on October 10th, offering our fabulous, free, canvas bag decorating!

This Sunday at Reid Park is the annual SABHF Blues Heritage Festival from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The line-up includes some fantastic blues artists from across the country, including the winners of the 2009 SABHF Blues Challenge that Bookmans was proud to sponsor this year!
Join us at Bookmans Speedway on October 18th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for an amazing celebration of chess! In honor of National Chess Week, Bookmans is proud to sponsor the first annual All Queens Chess Day in partnership with 9 Queens. In addition to Tucson's first chess tournament exclusively for women and girls, there will be an opportunity for kids of all ages to learn the basics of chess through fun, interactive stations. We'll even have chess themed arts and crafts activities for everyone to enjoy!
It's going to be a hot one this weekend, but Bookmans is offering a wide range of indoor activities to wash away your weekend boredom. We have events for all ages and interests from belly dancing and chess tournaments to book signings and an early Halloween celebration. Like the merchandise in our stores, there's something for everyone when it comes to weekend in-store events!
Bookmans doesn't frighten easily and neither should you! This year's opening night event features a screening of Starship Troopers, with a special guest appearance by the film’s star, Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico).
If you were at Bookmans' Party in the Park two years ago you witnessed the magic that occurs when the bands, Calexico, Mariachi Luz de Luna and Salvador Duran, share the stage. On November 8th, those three artists will create magic, again. Come see a live performance on the occasion of the filming of Flor de Muertos, a documentary celebration of the Twentieth Anniversary All Souls Procession and the music of Calexico. The entire concert will be filmed!

On October 28th at 6 p.m., Bookmans in Flagstaff will host MSNBC Science Editor Alan Boyle, winner of countless journalism awards, for an informative presentation of the points in his new book The Case for Pluto. Pluto, once a planet, was demoted to a dwarf in 2006 based on decisions made by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), whose job it is to categorize mother nature’s chaos.

Head Start classrooms all around Flagstaff are now benefiting from the musical skills and personal charisma of Mr. Chuck Cheesman, the children’s musician who Bookmans has hired to teach free music and movement classes in local Head Starts.
Known for never playing the same show twice, jam band heroes Widespread Panic have won fans nationwide with their unique brand of rootsy Southern rock, exemplified in favorites like "Airplane" and "Can't Get High." Widespread Panic headlined the first annual Bonnaroo Music Festival, which drew a crowd upwards of 70,000 people!

Ignite Phoenix is an evening of presentations designed to inspire, educate, and entertain the greater Phoenix community. In one evening, attendees will hear 18 passionate speakers from creative, technical, and business communities. Speakers talk about their current projects or favorite ideas for just five minutes each. The evening also includes additional time for networking and informal follow-up with the presenters. A team of volunteers plan and stage the event through the Phoenix Innovation Foundation.
Join a National Novel Writing Month representative and get your creative juices flowing! The group will be meeting at Bookmans Phoenix on Sunday November 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing the writing process and working on writing pieces.
