Already this year, more than 1,300 Tucson Unified School District children are homeless, according to Chris Molina, from the TUSD Clothing Bank. You can do your part by helping to stuff the bus this Saturday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at two Tucson locations:
Sam Levitz/Daglio's Shopping Center, northest corner of E. Broadway Blvd. & Pantano Road
Campbell Plaza Shopping Center, northeast corner of Campbell Ave. & Glenn
In keeping with their mission, the Educational Enrichment Foundation will be collecting resources to expand and enrich TUSD classrooms. This includes books, school-aged children's clothing and uniforms, good/gently-used sports equipment, hygiene items, backpacks, and school supplies. Cash donations will also be accepted.
Some of the schools have specific requests:
Doolen Middle School: Global Studies materials, including resource/reference books, non-fiction world culture books, atlases, etc.
Davidson Elementary: composition books, notebooks, pencils, and crayons
Secrist Elementary: backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, and copy paper
There are also other specific requests:
Clothing Bank: children's clothing, pants, skirts, tops for K-12 students
Sports Equipment: new or gently used equipment for soccer, track, tennis, etc.
General: public bus passes, personal/hygiene products, tissues, handi-wipes, hand santizers, cash
Stop in and stuff the bus on Saturday to help local Tucson kids. You can also make monetary donations here on the Educational Enrichment Foundation's website.
