Fresh off GreenFest 2011 we continue to support that which clears the air while clearing our lungs. This week we ask that you work out your leg muscles by particpating in Bike to Work Week presented by the Living Streets Alliance. Each year dozens of local businesses participate in suporting this healthy green initiative by giving out awesomely free stuff to bicyclists who participate. Speaking of awesome, anyone participating in Bike to Work Week Tuesday, April 5 through Friday, April 8 by cycling to any of our Tucson Bookmans locations and saying "Bike Fest" will receive a free bottle of water, a snack and a $10 or under book of choice (restrictions apply). Our Bike to Work Week hours are: Bookmans Grant, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Bookmans Speedway, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and Bookmans Ina between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Put the pedal to the metal and burn rubber because Bookmans supports our bicycle buddies.

Bike to Work Week is just one event of many other events Living Streets Alliance puts on annually. There's a list if events all month long supporting all us biped lovers and the things we like to do all around this fun city -- from friendly competition to Bikes and Burritos by Bicas. If you noticed and some crazed bicyclists riding frantically around town a couple of weeks ago that was the New Belgium Urban Assault Ride. This event kicks fun and competition into high gear while benefiting WOW Arizona and the Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists. This assault ride is the biggest bicycle scavenger hunt series in the nation. The afterparty at Maynards is filled with food, fun and the craziest raffle prize contest experience.
Don't deflate like a blown tire if you missed it because there are a variety of events all month focusing on living healthy and our "Going Green". Heck you don't even need a special month to ride your bike across scenic Tucson! Just hop on the Rillito River Walk because the paths are always bike friendly with an incredibly fast route that will take you from the east side of Tucson all the way to the west. Strap on a helmet and hold on because Tucson bike culture is on a roll.

Bike to Work Week is a great idea. If we could get everyone to do it for a week, it would help with health and our fuel usage. I hope other cities follow Tucson's example. Bail Bonds Tallahassee
