Bookman's Blog
If your idea of a fun Saturday is spending almost 5 hours playing intense round after round of first-person shooter action in the new Modern Warfare 2 battlefields, then you probably should have been at Bookmans Phoenix this weekend instead of playing the exact same thing on your couch or at your buddy’s house.

The Devastation Crew helped us transform the Bookmans Phoenix Electronics room into a video gamers’ paradise with handfuls of TVs, Xbox 360s and a maze of electrical cords. As soon as we announced open registration, floods of gamers filled the electronics department, each eagerly awaiting their turn to blow some limbs off and heads up via guns and grenades. If you were lucky enough to see over the sea of heads and got the chance to watch a match, you’d see that these folks took gaming very seriously and were in it not just for the $100 gift certificate prize, but for the title and bragging rights as well.
The gentleman of the Devestation Crew kept a close eye on the matches, controllers and teams to make sure all was continuously fair but in the end -- there can only be one… and the champion team of our Bookmans' 2010 Modern Warfare 2 Video Game Challenge was Oscar and Jacob! Each guy took home a golden trophy of either an AK-47 or pineapple grenade attached to a golden canteen, a gift certificate, tote bag and t-shirt.

Second and third place winners received smaller amounts of trade credit along with goodie bags but all 6 of them seemed very happy that they even placed in the top three. We couldn’t have done it without the boys of Devestation and have to give them a huge thank you for their help and support!
If you’re serious about your gaming, make sure and join us next year for another intense video game tournament to celebrate video game month in May. We may not know what game we’ll be playing next but we do know that with a little practice and maybe even luck, YOU have a chance of being the champion just as much as the next person.
