Bookman's Blog
As July peeks around the corner, we head into the thick of our Summer Kids Events with more craft projects, magic and theater shows, and furry and feathered creatures of all shapes and sizes. See what's coming up in July and take a look back at the past few weeks' of free fun happening at your favorite Bookmans location. You can see more photos in our Flickr.
Patrick the Magician
From Audrey, Bookmans Ina: Patrick The Magician entertained over 30 children with his amazing magical feats! He showed us how many spots were in a spot test, we learned that the magical words "Abra Cadabra" can do a lot of amazing things, and we met a very special, very magical bunny named Simba. It was an hour of amazement and fun as we participated with Patrick and helped out with the magic show!
From Valarie, Bookmans Speedway: Patrick the Magician amazed us all. Flying Pizza! Never-ending stretching gum! Simba the Rabbit! Thanks for the show!
Sing & Sign with Jessica
From Todd, Bookmans Mesa: We had a great time at our Sing and Sign language event. Jessica taught sign language in a fun and catchy tune way.
Handmade at Bookmans T-Shirt Decorating
From Cody, Bookmans Grant: The t-shirt decorating event was really fun and popular as usual. We had 50 kids show up with their great ideas and creativity in tow, and leave proudly wearing their creations. People always love this event (along with the Bookmans canvas bag decorating) and tell me what a great idea it is.
From Audrey, Bookmans Ina: We had over 100 kids from our local community come down and get crafty with their t-shirts. Bookmans provided the markers, stencils, and shirts and the kids did an amazing job decorating their shirts! I would like to thank everyone who came out for this awesome event, and a big thank you to the Bookmans Ina staff who made it happen!
Dinosaur Storytime
From Kate, Bookmans Flagstaff: Kids enjoyed Dinosaur Storytime with kids' book author Martha Penado. Martha read from her book Eggstinkt, and then drew and signed an original dinosaur picture for each kid! After Penado's reading, the kids ate organic strawberries and went on a tour of the store with Pepe, our beloved kids book specialist, to learn how the store functions. Everyone was really impressed by all the stuff stacked high in the back room. Afterwards, each child was able to choose one book from the Kids Area with their special kids' coupon and went home with something new to read!
Bookmark Making Project
From Todd, Bookmans Mesa: We had an awesome time making bookmarks! It was VERY busy and kids had a great time finding books to accompany their new bookmarks. A special shout out goes to Shayla who made a special bookmark just for me. Thanks Shayla!
