Bookman's Blog
Sunday at Bookmans Mesa, we had muggles, magic, and much, much, more. In honor of Fight Censorship Month at Bookmans, we held a Harry Potter party. (Did you know Harry Potter was banned?)
We started by gathering everyone in a circle and let each participant reach in the sorting hat to get sorted by house names. Everyone who drew a house received a special edition house/Bookmans lanyard to commemorate this awesome day. After everyone had been sorted by their houses, the party kicked into gear!

Each house had a timed competition in each "class" to complete their tasks. Gryffindor began by getting their faces painted in assorted Hogwarts style. Slytherin rose to the challenge of attending wand class by turning mere wooden dowels into magical objects capable of defending against the Deathly Hallows. Hufflepuff attended potions class where steady hands mastered the art of mixing the correct amount of spell ingredients in potion jars. The potions if done correctly would allow the mixture to magically change colors when shaken. The house of Ravenclaw attended the Great Dining Hall, where they were told the history of the ever changing ceiling and the floating candles overhead. Students were dazzled by cauldrons filled with Bertie Bott's Jellybeans and a magic potion punch that boiled, bubbled and crackled as if alive. Here students also could enter to win a Harry Potter lunchbox, bookmarks, or the grand prize -- the wand of Mr. Potter himself! When the Hogwarts bell rang, it was off to the next class.
Thanks to everyone who attended, and congratulations to the winners.
