Bookman's Blog
This last week has brought to light many of the changes coming to the Mesa store. When you first walk into the store, to your left, you are greeted by my oversized construction zone display. My little homage to the career of the constructionist sets the tone for the store and reflects everyones anticipation so well, even Tim Taylor himself would stand and salute.
For all you history buffs out there, one of the first major changes you will see is the history section/corner is cleared out and gone. This area will be the home to our new and improved Electronics area. The new department will be much bigger than the current one. There will be a larger trade counter and more room for you to shop for all of your Electronics needs. Will we still have Playstation games? Will we still have Atari games? Of course we will, all that and more! Are you excited yet? I know I am. Before I get lost dreaming of a Retro Pong night, let me move on to other areas of the store....
Entrance to the new Kids' Room.
Sadly, our community room has closed. On the happier side, it will be the host to our new expanded Kids' section. Here you can see the beginnings of the new arch doorways that will lead into it. The new area which will be double in size, will have all the books, toys, games and such, you have come to know and love. It will also boast a little play area to keep the little ones happy while taking a break from their shopping. Who knows, they might even get lucky and run into Princess Page along the way.
The board games and puzzles, which were in the middle of the store, are now located in the back corner of the store. Everything from Scrabble, to Trivial Pursuit, to - when last I checked - a High School Musical Sing A Long DVD game. Do you own Boardwalk and want to gloat your greed? Pick up a goblet in our gallery area, now in the back with the board games.
New lighting over the future
trade counter.
The overhead lighting has changed at the front of the store, as well some of the trade counter. We are adding a much larger trade counter, as well revamping the cashier counter.
For those of you who have noticed the middle of the store and the "craziness" of the book sections: We do apologize if, over the course of the last week, you have come in and your favorite section has been down. We have redesigned all the shelves, and have been working diligently to get it all back together. Fear not, if it hasn't been put back up yet, It will be within the next couple of days. If you're unsure where your favorite section has been moved to, please feel free to ask an associate, we will be more than happy to guide you on your way.
Lastly, for those of you who missed Chapter I of my Epic Tale, the magazine area will be the home to our new cafe. Soon you will be able to sit, relax, take advantage of the FREE wifi, and have yourself a chai latte. More info is coming soon on the cafe. I am so excited.
Would you like to solve the puzzle?
As excited as I was about the Gary Coleman Americana baseball card I found last week? In case you're wondering if we will still have those unique items you love, just look at this... Oh no, dear readers - your eyes aren't deceiving you. This is indeed the Vanna White doll. Vanna has arrived here just in time to help us turn a page in Bookmans Mesa history. Are you excited? Well, get off the couch and try to solve Vanna's puzzle...
