Do you love everything comics? Then you won't want to miss our Comic Create event at Bookmans Ina this Friday, March 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We'll host live demostrations by local artists, in celebration of National Arts & Crafts Month, and the upcoming Phoenix ComiCon! Join Greg Mannino, Jonnie Allen, and other amazing comic artists showing us how they create their unique and intricate works of art.

Greg Mannino is a Tucson native and a great comic book artist, who currently works as a graphic designer for Tucson Newspapers, Inc. Greg created his comic book series "Dorothy" based on a much darker version of "The Wizard of Oz." Through his vision and experience, he has created six issues of "Dorothy" using live action photography and mad Photoshop skills, creating scenes that are truly unique.

Greg has also been commissioned to work on a print adaptation of the film "Jessika Rabid." He created the DVD cover art for the film, as well as a short comic insert. Don't miss the opportunity to meet this creative genius. For more on Greg's "Dorothy" series, check out an interview with him from The Comic Fanatic.

Also on scene, we'll have Independent Comics creator and self-taught artist Jonnie Allan, who founded A.K.A Comics as a vehicle to introduce his all-ages comic book creation, "The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™" to the comic book world. In February of 2006, A.K.A. Comics began distributing "The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™" directly to fans and retailers, selling out at almost every convention appearance.

Through a "grass-roots" approach to marketing, Jonnie was able to catch the attention of Diamond Comics Distributors, Inc. by gaining critical acclaim from industry giants, like Wizard Magazine, Comic Buyer's Guide, Comic World News, and Broken Frontier as well as a legion of devoted fans of his wildly popular, laugh-out-loud-series.

Jonnie has contributed articles for Wizard Magazine and often provides workshops for aspiring comic creators, teaching them how create, develop and market their creativity. Jonnie resides in Tucson, AZ with his wife Dawn and their son TJ. For more information on The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™, visit the A.K.A. Comics website.
