The weather's warming up, the air conditioner is kicking on, and we have a few notable music-related events happening this weekend for your (cool) enjoyment.
Native American Flute Player/Teaching Artist Katherine Twinfeathers will lead a special story time for children at Bookmans Grant on Friday, April 24th at 10 a.m. Kids, bring your parents for an hour of folk tales, flute-playing, and fun songs.
Chanteuse Marianne Dissard will present her jazz and cabaret-inflected Americana at Bookmans Flagstaff this Saturday, April 25th at 2 p.m. in the Cafe. Dissard, whose debut album L'entredeux was co-written and produced by Calexico's Joey Burns, is a Tucson-based songwriter, poet, activist, multimedia artist, and documentary filmmaker. And you get to see her for free!
And also happening Saturday from 3-5 p.m. at Bookmans Grant: the steel drum/piano duo Cool Breeze, featuring Tucson Symphony Orchestra Principal Percussionist Homero Ceron. Cool Breeze specializes in Latin American music with a jazz twist.
