Bookmans News
Book lovers at Tucson Festival of Books (TFOB) enjoyed more than what took place under the white tents, grabbing an author for a signature and engaging in book chat. Festival organizers provided entertainment in the form of expositions and performances. One of the most anticipated performances was from Timothy Fort, the Kinetic King of America's Got Talent fame. As TFOB sponsors, we had exclusive access.
Not really, we had the same access as everyone else. Fortunately TFOB provides excellent access to everyone and we were close enough to the Kinetic King to take this photo of two of Bookmans' favorite young ladies with the Kinetic King on his first-day performance.

Tofel girls Lauren and Carlee pose with the Kinetic King. Youngest Tofel girl, Lexi was elsewhere at TFOB talking books.
An eager crowd gathered around the roped-off live stick bomb ready to be wowed by the kinetic performance.

The "before" stick bomb.
Then ...
glorious release! Leaving in its wake stick debris.

The "after" stick bomb.
We have better quality video, but being the compression snobs we are (amateaurs) we want to ensure you see a blur. Fortunately the Kinetic King comes to the rescue. He's got video of the installation he did for the second day of TFOB. Visit his website to read up on the history of stick bombs, learn about the cool math and science behind his art and watch more of his amazing kinetic art.
