Summer is unofficially here in Phoenix with days and days of triple digits scorching us already. But no need to fear--Bookmans is here to the rescue the hot upcoming months with cool indoor kids events all summer long!

Close to 100 kids helped us start off our summer kids' events, which began yesterday with the Great Arizona Puppet Theatre performing their comical rendition of “Jack and the Beanstalk”. Our community room was packed with children and parents who giggled and sat in amazement of the intricate handmade puppet and their tall tale. The giant was played by Ken, the puppeteer, and included the other favorite characters like Jack, his screeching mother, Betsy the Cow, the merchant, the chicken who laid golden eggs and of course the beautiful golden harp. After the show was over, Ken showed the kids the different between the puppets and how you go about bringing them to life.

The Great Arizona Puppet Theatre has always had a legacy of bringing larger than life puppetry to the valley and Ken’s “Jack and the Beanstalk” performance was no exception. You can actually catch a quirky version of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” right now at their building on 302 West Latham Street here in Phoenix so make sure and check it out for only $8 and thank you so much to the Puppet Theatre for starting our summer activities on a fun note! Check out more pictures from the event here.
