Hello, summer! I was watching the news this morning as the anchor bantered with a guest about the low temperature of 90 degrees the city of Phoenix is experiencing this weekend like it was something to look forward to. My response? Hot is hot! I am a native Arizonan. I have lived here my entire life in various parts of our great state. While Flagstaff is nice to visit, I have recently discovered that I loathe freezing temperatures and snow. Who knew?
What I enjoy about Phoenix is that you can always count on the warmth of the sun. Like many others, I will never enjoy 45 minute treks across the Valley while my love, the sun, blazes down upon my car with 110 degree temperatures. But I welcome her brightness into my bedroom every morning.
Also, like many others, I tend to look forward to activities that are indoors. Who has ever gone to a movie just to enjoy the air conditioning? I know I have. Lucky for us, Phoenix has several water parks, indoor wave pools, and a wide assortment of indoor activities for everyone. And here at Bookmans, we have free activities for kids all summer long. There are also a variety of other free in-store events that we offer our customers as well.
There is nothing like finding a good book or magazine and that perfect chair in a nook to sneak away from the summer heat for a couple of hours. And if you're lucky like myself, you will likely find some good conversation along the way. So I ask you this: how do you plan to spend your summer?
