The word "grindhouse" is an American term for theaters that show mainly exploitation films, while the word "redux" means being brought back or a return. Last week The Midnite Movie Mamacita brought back the sorely missed Grindhouse Redux to MadCap Theaters in Tempe with The Tattoo Connection and The Final Comedown. How can you not enjoy a double dose of awesome with appearances by Jim Kelly and Billy Dee Williams?

While this b-movie babe brings us film classics such as Beyond The Valley of The Dolls, Wizard of Gore, and Red Dawn, the Grindhouse Redux is scheduled for a once-a-month appearance throughout the rest of 2010. You can look forward to Evil Dead, Rock & Roll High School, and a John Carpenter double feature coming soon! Those are just a few of my personal favorites. And if you aren't sure what is coming up you can find the listings right The Room, the first weekend of every month. This film has been described as “Floor plan 9 from outer space and without a doubt, the worst film ever made.” Yet, each weekend you can find a packed theater that includes moviegoers with plastic spoons. Guess you'll have to catch that experience to get the joke! This weekend, you can enjoy The House of the Devil and Bronson, two films that did not receive a wide theater release. You can find trailers of these films on The Midnite Movie Mamacita's website. The full schedule of January showings can be found here.

Keep an eye out for great upcoming features and events. We are currently brainstorming for another free movie night in September for our annual Fight Censorship film screening.
