Bookmans News
While the official count has not been announced, early numbers rumor that more than 10,000 people attended the Phoenix Comicon this Memorial Day Weekend. With the fantastic move to the Phoenix Convention Center, the convention had over three times the space than previous years. Bookmans was spinning the prize wheel with a line wrapped around the corner all weekend long. Many walked away with our exlusive Bookmans Phoenix Comicon 2010 t-shirt, while others received a “dramatic reading” from the programming guide on Saturday, a hi-five, or even some custom-drawn comics from Bookmans own Tavis Maiden, creator of The Konamis. No matter what was won, everyone had a great time!

Bookmans was also proud to present the Kids Need to Read Geek Prom on Saturday night. Tickets to this “geektacular” party sold out late Saturday afternoon, and were in high demand. Thank you to the more than 300 people in attendance for assisting Kids Need To Read in raising money to get books into the hands of children, and a great big thank you to Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton for judging and crowning the Geek Prom king and queen, who just happened to be the assistant manager of our Phoenix location and his wife. I could not have imagined a more fun Saturday night at the Phoenix Comicon. We look forward to next year and hope to see you all again!
