Do you know what pet adoptions, belly dancing, and Steampunk have in common?  Absolutely nothing!  But you'll find events related to each of them in our stores, this first weekend of 2010.  We're offering something for everyone.

TUCSON

Speedway- If you walk into Bookmans Speedway on Saturday and hear a cacophony of musical sounds, don't be alarmed. It just means that some kids are having a whole bunch of fun! Back in the kids corner you will find our Music Fun with Nature event, hosted by Bookmans employee and music guru, Nature. Join in for a whole music-filled hour with music provided by YOU! We will have all kinds of instruments to play, so you can make up songs, learn about sounds, and have a rocking musical time.

Ina- Attention all dog lovers, our Ina store will be hosting an Arizona Greyhound Rescue event on Saturday. The friendly volunteer staff of Arizona Greyhound Rescue will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about adoption, fostering, volunteering and donating through this awesome organization. Learn how you can be a champion to a greyhound in need!

PHOENIX

Art thou interested in all things medieval? Well, on Saturday we will be celebrating Medieval Skills in the Modern World. See how basic everyday skills were used for the arts as well as just living in the middle ages. These skills are still part of our modern world and can be used in our day to day lives.

Are you a fan of Steampunk? Or maybe you just want to know what the heck it is? Well, imagine what the world would look like if everything mechanical ran on steam, Victorian style dress was in fashion, everything around you had brass and copper accents, and to travel great distances you had to board an airship in the style of the Hindenburg. Thats just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to Steampunk. Join us Sunday for Steamhub Steampunk Society's: Intro To Steampunk. We will discuss the concepts of Steampunk and get you in the know about the ever more popular Steampunk Society. This is your FREE opportunity to learn about the wacky and exciting historic/futuristic mix that is Steampunk! Sunday is also an opportunity to shed the extra inches added to your waistline from those holiday meals with Fusion Belly Dancing. Morgianna, our experienced instructor, offers FREE multi-level classes! Plus, check out our fun weekly event at Bookmans Phoenix called the Across Plus Anime Club. The social club emphasizes anime and roleplaying, and also discusses videogames, culture, and other hobbies.

FLAGSTAFF

Join us for “Red Candy Caboose” Storytime. Author Roy Lando will be holding a spirited kids storytime (ideal for 3-8 year olds) this coming Sunday. Join us in the search and surprise ending of the “The Red Candy Caboose.” If your kid is train-crazy, you won't want to miss this fun and interactive storytime event.
