I can't talk about Love of Reading month without talking about Bookmans! Before I started working here, at Bookmans, I read some but definitely not as much as I do now. As a kid I didn't really read at all, most of my book reports were written by reading the back of the book. I was a slower reader then most kids, which was embarrassing, so I just stopped. In 2004 I read this book I borrowed from the library called "Lamia: A Witch by Georgia Taylor," it was amazing and I enjoyed it more than I had ever enjoyed any book before.

Shortly after I started working at Bookmans, I talked with some of the other people on staff who suggested other books I might like. Then they starting suggesting their favorite books, with as different as our staff members are it was an eclectic list of books that I just had to read. Fast-forward 5 years and that list has grown and shrunk many times, and now I'm the one who recommends books to not only staff, but to our customers as well.

Being surrounded by such a vast variety of books has helped to keep me from getting bored, and has exposed me to many books I wouldn't have been because of our store. I now classify myself as a reader, which makes me so proud and Bookmans was a big part in the change in me. So even if it isn't the most thought-provoking or serious book, but its interesting to you, pick it up and read it; you'll be glad you did!
