The overpopulation of cats and dogs in America is a growing problem – the Humane Society of the United States estimates that four million cats and dogs are put down in U.S. shelters each year – one every eight seconds. The solution is simple: spay and neuter your pets, and adopt from animal shelters and rescue organizations, rather than breeders. Bookmans is proud to partner with several greyhound rescue and adoption organizations to help find the svelte, sweet companions a new home this Saturday, January 16.

Bookmans Mesa will feature Arizona Adopt A Greyhound at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arizona Adopt A Greyhound is one of the nation's largest greyhound adoption agencies, placing between 400 and 500 dogs into homes each year.

Greyhound Pets of America Arizona Chapter will be at Bookmans Phoenix from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Founded in 1987 to find homes for ex-racing Greyhounds, Greyhound Pets of America is the largest non-profit greyhound adoption group in the U.S., and since opening has placed more than 65,000 greyhounds into new homes.

If you're not in the Phoenix metropolitan area, you can still find a furry friend at Bookmans Ina from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, where Arizona Greyhound Rescue will be looking for volunteers and, of course, good homes for their greyhounds. Arizona Greyhound Rescue has been placing dogs in their forever homes in Southern Arizona since 1995.

Stop by any of these three Bookmans locations this Saturday, January 16, to find a new friend. And remember, friendly, vaccinated pets are always welcome, on a leash. For more information, you can always check out our monthly events calendar here.
