Bookmans News
BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country, is an all-volunteer program of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. The Arizona chapter opened in 1998 and 11 years later has more than 60 readers devoting their time to 38 schools in the Phoenix Metro, Tucson, and Prescott Areas. Professional actors, broadcasters, theater students, and trained community volunteers read aloud weekly to classrooms throughout the school year. Bookmans is happy to welcome these incredibly animated advocates of literacy for the first time this weekend at our Phoenix & Mesa locations. Join us for an hour of holiday storytelling and fun craft activities on Saturday, December 5th at 11 A.M. in Mesa and Sunday, December 6th at 10 A.M in Phoenix.
Additionally, this year Bookmans is excited to be a collection spot for BookPALS. So, stop by Bookmans Phoenix or Mesa to make a donation of your gently used children's books, which BookPALS will distribute to children in need. We will be accepting donations through December 21st.
