Bookman's Blog

For five of my six years at Bookmans, my job has included event planning in Phoenix and Mesa. Let me tell you, it's a labor of love to bring to you, our beloved customers, the polished end-product. It is also one of my favorite parts of the job. I enjoy working with the Events Liaisons, Todd and Yvette, as a team to brainstorm new and fun ways to make annual events better than the last. We are constantly finding ways to breathe new life into every day activities. At Bookmans we don't feel restricted by the idea that we are "just a bookstore". Thinking outside of the "big box” makes room for the inspiration to create engagements that you would never imagine doing in a bookstore.

For example our goal for Fight Censorship Month was to tie the idea into an array of in-store events. From Harry Potter to Improv comedy, we have something for all-ages and all walks of life! If neither of those are your thing, we have book clubs, craft classes for adults and kids, weekly story-times, animal adoptions, and dance classes. There are simply too many for me to list here, but on our events calendar you can find an up-to-date listing of every single event created just for you at all Bookmans stores.

We hope that you enjoy the activities hosted at all our Bookmans locations. If you have not attended one, stop by one to see if you like it! We're here to make you happy. With that in mind, I personally invite you to comment here about what you would like to see in our stores. If you have an event ideas you would like to see in our Phoenix or Mesa locations or just want to send us feedback, feel free to contact me directly at any time!

If I ever return to lovely Arizona I'd be happy to have a book signing, poetry event... Calling it a reading seems to pretentious, and I tend to talk a lot more than read out loud any way.

Best wishes

Literacy Volunteers Tucson uses books and encourages their English language and new readers to use your store. Have an event focused on adult new readers.
