2011 was another year of hit film, music, book and video game releases. We see them on the shelves and we watch, listen, read and play along with everyone else. At Bookmans Mesa the staff was vocal about their favorites for the past year.

 

 

Our favorites in film included Bridesmaids, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1, The Muppets, Super 8 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Two of those are based on books because we’re cool like that.

 

 

From the music scene Adele’s 21 was a huge success heard around the world and a popular favorite. Lady Gaga dropped Born This Way with a bang. Possible more subtle but none-the-less awesome are The Decemberists The King is Dead, Foster The People’s Torches, Is Tropical’s Native To and no one will forget LMFAO’s Sorry for Party Rocking.

 

 

On the book side we couldn’t keep copies of The Help, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and A Game of Thrones on our shelves. The staff loved these along with Bossypants, The Writer’s Journey, The Nerdist Way and of course The Konamis Ominous Omnibus Vol. 1.

 

 

In the world of video games, nerds excitedly waited in line for releases of Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, and Little Big Planet 2. We got our geek on with copies of Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Portal 2, and Skyrim. Did we mention Skyrim?

 

 

This small sampling of what the Bookmans Mesa staff enjoys represents the piles of our favorites. If we listed every single one you would be reading for days. Of course we want you to hang out with us on our website but we would rather you hang out with us in the store.
