Bookmans News

During Bookmans' 36-year fight against censorship, the shattered light bulb emerged as one of our more powerful symbols. In this video, combining passages from banned books read by customers and employees, we created a statement about how books inform, engage and inspire the light in each of us.

This was a beautifully made and inspirational video. Whoever is the creative genius behind this video this has captured the essence of the power of the written word and the importance of keeping it free! What a statement!

Thank you for creating such an inspiration video. I am using this video with my students during Banned Book Week and as we begin reading Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

We love to hear from teachers, Heather. Not only does free expression mean the right to say what you want, but also to be exposed to ideas. This is so important that it was the first right enumerated in our Bill of Rights and we continue to celebrate it today. Banned, censored, or challenged, we depend on educators like you to help students become critical readers. Thank you.
