The Devastation Gaming Event, Tournament & Expo 2010 came to an end Sunday as the competition wrapped up over 22 professional competitive gaming events. In a stadium-style seating setup, hundreds of people watched the final match-ups on big-screen projectors. The morning started off with Super Smash Bros. Brawl but fan favorites were definitely games like Soul Caliber IV, Tekken 6, and Super Street Fighter IV. As one of the most reputable gaming events in the world, Phoenix saw gamers from across the country and around the globe. At the Bookmans booth we event met people from as far away as Korea. You might remember Juicebox, a local gamer and Bookmans customer who has won several of our Video Game Challenges over the last few years. We are proud of our local community of gamers for representing Phoenix!

At the Bookmans Retro Game Zone, gamers, friends, family, and casual passers-on were able to enjoy classic gaming on cartridge based systems. Lots of Duck Hunt, Legend of Zelda, TMNT: Tournament Fighters, and Sonic The Hedgehog was being played. Those are just a few examples of the well over twenty games we had available over the weekend. People were dying to win Bookmans "Fight Censorship" t-shirts, and Bookmans yo-yos will always be an all-time favorite! Our hands are still sore from all of the high-fives!
Bookmans wasn't the only local company out to support this huge gaming event. Several of the Bookmans employees received their comic book fix at the Samurai Comics booth and the staff of Play 'N' Trade came over to say hello. LAN Speed Games, Knockout Energy Drink, and the Art Institute of Phoenix were a few more of the local supporters. You can visit the Devastation website for details on the finalists and a list of the winners over the next few days. Keep an eye out at Bookmans as we rock out video game challenges right here in our stores! Thank you to the Devastation Crew for being a great team to work with!

Over the weekend Devastation was online with a live stream and coverage of the major events. You can visit their website for highlights as many of the games are still available to watch, along with the finals.
