We're welcoming our new musical instrument department with the first Bookmans Phoenix Block Party and Musical Festival! You are invited to enjoy live music, discounted food, free kids activities, free face painting and more! Who says you can't have a musical festival in a book store? Not us!
Catch a night of indie music with one of our favorite local bands, Boys and Frogs! "Formed in 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona, Boys and Frogs is a 3 person collective that collaborates with artists across various genres and media. Boys and Frogs' musical and visual aesthetic is a blend of pop, ambitious grandeur, haunting imagery, and eclectic voicing that transcends genre and appeals across different audiences." Opening for Boys and Frogs is local duo, Bogan Via. Both shows are all ages and free.
For kids we'll have interactive music and animation demonstrations provided by Spread the Weird and Arizona SciTech Festival. Spread the Weird is a design house, animated studio that features a craft corner and catering kitchen where science and math are integrated into all the projects that they do with children and adults.
Bookmans statewide is a Tour Collaborator Partner with the first-annual ARIZONA SCITECH Festival, a grass roots collaboration of over 200 organizations in industry, academia, arts, community and K-12 geared to excite and inform Arizonan’s age 3 to 103 how science, technology and innovation will drive our state for next 100 years. Through a series of hands-on activities and workshops, conversations and debates, stunning exhibitions, concerts, guided walks and tours during the month of February 2012 the SciTech Festival will help to brand Arizona as a leader in science and technology and to inform our future workforce about opportunities in our state.
