This Saturday, August 21, at our Grant, Ina and Mesa stores, we're happy to announce several author and book-signing events. From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bookmans Grant, we will welcome Roberta Serface to sign her new book, “The Forgotten Highway: Broadway of America,” which is the first of several soon-to-be-published books containing original, historic photographs from the 1910s through the 1940s. They tell a story of the town Roberta was born and raised in and the people who visited, worked and lived in that town. The book also features pictures of the old Highway 80 that ran through Arizona.

From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bookmans Mesa, we welcome Claudia Dillaire with her book “Egyptian Revenge Spells”. This book, based on ancient Egyptian Magic, is a must-read for magic enthusiasts. An excerpt from her book:

Egyptian magic, in all its forms, is similar to Wicca, but it does not shy away from the basic instincts of anger, jealousy, and the desire to exact revenge. One must always temper one’s behavior: it can be very seductive to use just destructive magic, just as it is easy to fall into any other bad habit. The practice of Egyptian magic is a religion, just as Wicca or Christianity, and it needs to be respected as such. Just remember, a little curse once in a while can really bring things into perspective and can help alleviate some of the stresses in life caused by other persons infringing on us. We don’t always get to choose our neighbors and bosses, so a push to move them away from us might be just what the doctor ordered.

Bobby Wilson will be signing his book, “Bobby's Trials” at Bookmans Ina from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This book is the incredible story of a poor teenage Oklahoma farm boy who was charged with murdering his mother and sister in cold blood and then burning down the family home in a supposed attempt to cover up his crimes and his ten-year court battle to clear his name.
