Bookman's Blog
Hey everyone! Blogging live from the Tucson Festival of Books...glad we all wore our sunscreen today, it's nice and warm outside. We have so much stuff going on at the festival, it's hard to condense it all!
Tamara is doing a fabulous job of running the controlled chaos that is our kids' tent, with a little help from Andrew up in Flagstaff and a few of our other wonderful employees. We've got this totally awesome jungle theme happening in the tent, complete with lighting, monkeys, leaves, and a few snakes! The kids are having an awesome time decorating Bookmans "I heart Bookmans" tote bags, as well as having a fun interactive storytime. It's messy, busy and spectacular.
At our main tent, we're working on filling our Tucson Loves Reading wall for a community art project. All of our great visitors are generous enough to share their favorite books with us on a recommendation form, which we're posting on a big, portable wall and will be displaying across Tucson. So many great recommendations so far... We've also been busy giving out "Reading Is Not A Crime" shirts, Bookmans tote bags and more.
The festival is huge this year, with visitors from all around the world. A great couple from Australia even took home some of our Tucson Loves Reading project forms to give to their favorite local bookseller back home.
There are lots of other tents and events here too, of course. Too many to even list! I hope if you're in Tucson and haven't been to the festival yet, that you'll slather on some sunscreen, grab a hat and head on down. We'll be here all day today and tomorrow as well. See you here...and don't forget your water.
