We ain’t afraid of no ghosts, at least not with the Arizona Ghostbusters around! The local costume fan club drew a huge crowd at Bookmans Phoenix as part of our annual Movie Madness Month. The club impressively makes their own outfits, weapons and accessories and trot around the valley volunteering their time and efforts in order to raise money for various charities. Every year, the AZ Ghostbusters team with the Step Out to Fight Diabetes Walk and join the thousands of other supporters across the country who participates in this sponsored walk to promote diabetes awareness, prevention and cure. The team came out promoting their walk as well as to hang for a few hours with our anxious customers. Folks sported their best Ghostbusters gear to take photos and meet with the ghostbusting guys: Mike, Phil, the other Phil and one of their newest members, Monica. As an extra special treat, they brought along their famous Ecto 1 car which replicates the car from the film almost exactly! The car hung out on our Bookmans sidewalk attracting people like crazy and photo shoot frenzy like no other. The car bridged the generation gap because whether people were die hard Ghostbusters fans who grew up with the movie or kids who had never even heard of them, everyone could agree that the Ecto 1 was probably the coolest ride we’d ever get to see up close.  The Phoenix team has their own set of fans who gladly came to support them along with a whole new group that are sure to follow their future events and activities. We raffled off copies of the Ghostbusters 1 and  2 and the Ghostbusters ran our first every book stacking contest for slimer Petri dish prizes. Everyone who met them received a slimer lollipop,  a “stay puft” marshmallow bag and one of the teams posters. Thank you to all the people who came out for the event and especially to the Arizona Ghostbusteres for giving back to our community in a big way. We wish them the best of luck at their Step Out to Fight Diabetes walk next month on September 25th.
