Bookmans News

The health of our environment, local and global, has always been one of Bookmans first priorities. We support countless environmental organizations and events, charge electric cars at our store in Tucson, and our entire business model is based on the goals of reducing, reusing, and recycling. This April will be another opportunity for Bookmans to help highlight that most important of causes.

This year, Bookmans in Flagstaff is proud to help sponsor the City’s Earth Day Celebration, held outside of City Hall on Saturday April 17th. This is a great event with vendors, food, educational booths and lots of other activities. We’ll be doing give-aways of reusable tote bags, tee-shirts, yo-yos, and other stuff, offering free tickets for tours of the Arboretum, and will even have a big table set-up in the parking-lot to buy your stuff! Bring along a box or so of your used books, CDs, DVDs, LPs, electronics, toys etc and you’ll be helping reuse and recycle your stuff, with cash or trade credit as your reward! We will also have Bookmans sponsored kids music, and a table for kids’ reusable tote-bag decorating. All of this great green fun is free and open to the public.

Bookmans is also proud to be a premium sponsor of the 9th annual Recycled Art Exhibition, featuring art made from recycled materials. Artists from all over Coconino County come together to promote recycling through this creative, fun and inspiring exhibition. It's one of Flagstaff's favorite exhibitions each year. The artwork has to be made of at least 80% recycled material, and entry is open to any local artist!

This year, the opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 2010. The exhibition will remain open through May 15, 2010. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11am to 5pm. On Saturdays throughout the exhibition, artists will conduct demonstrations and workshops. Check back here soon for the demo and workshop schedule, or visit www.culturalpartners.org for more information.

Come join us for these great events, and don’t forget us: Bookmans in Flagstaff will return, and we will be as good for the planet (and your pocket) as ever!
