The numbers are in! With 270,000 books read in our second annual Reading Challenge, Rio Vista Elementary in Tucson and Webster Elementary in Mesa have each won $5,000. Congratulations to all schools that participated and helped blow last year's total of 100,000 books read out of the water!
The final month's numbers for the 2nd Annual Bookmans' Reading Challenge are in and they are incredible! During the month of April, students from 19 participating elementary schools in Tucson and 16 participating elementary schools in Mesa read over 114,000 books. And during the three months of the Challenge, over 270,000 books were read.

We're very proud to announce the winners of the Bookmans Reading Challenge. With over 34,000 books read,
Rio Vista Elementary School will receive the $5,000 prize in Tucson. Congratulations! Rio Vista's librarian, Stephanie Quimby-Greene, helped lead the school to an incredible average of 20 books read per student, per month. We are very impressed!
In Mesa, Webster Elementary School is the winner of the $5,000 prize, with over 33,000 books during the Challenge. Their librarian, Celia Gonzales-Hughes, helped them to an average of 13 books read per student, per month. Amazing!
