On Monday, March 31, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., KXCI 91.3-FM will honor the legacy of the Arizona workers' advocate.
Our friends at KXCI passed along info about this day of special programming which will include interviews with Tucson educators, community leaders, and activists, historical segments presented by local students, and a blend of border music and contemporary, relevant songs.

Arizonan César E. Chávez was a second generation American born in Yuma on March 31, 1927. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa, he and Dolores Huerta organized farm workers throughout California; fighting for better working conditions, against low wages and for just treatment of workers by striking, boycotting and marching for the United Farm Workers Union. César E. Chávez died peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 1993 in in San Luis, Arizona.
