On Sat, April 19, Bookmans Phoenix will be hosting its third Anime Festival, organized by AniZona, Across Plus, and the ASU West Otaku Club. Come join us as we sing, dance, play games, and have so much fun that minstrels will tell the story for an era!

All joking aside, this trio of organizations has lined up an impressive program that is bound to attract gamers, anime fans, cosplayers, and even the wonderful fan fiction crowd. Read on for the schedule of events, then join us on April 19th to partake. 

Please note both Masquerade and Guitar Hero registration will be available from the start of the event to the hour before the contest starts. Registration will be at the entrance to the community room.

12 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Iron Cosplay
Ever woken up the morning before a convention and realized you had nothing to wear?  Test your skills at creating a masterpiece out of scraps in a time-limited competition.  Each team will create a costume to be judged on craftsmanship and creative use of materials.  The winner gets to walk in the masquerade!   

1:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Anime 20 Questions
Twenty questions with an anime twist! While the mystery character poses and speaks from behind a panel, you try and guess who they are based on their actions and the questions you and others have asked.

2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Anime Viewing 
Take a break between events to enjoy some good old-fashioned anime!

3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Masquerade Pre-Judging 
In order to be part of the masquerade, you must sit before our judges. We are looking for craftsmanship and creativity! 

4 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. Calligraphy Workshop
A hands-on demo hosted by Hareda-Sensei on some beginner's strokes of Calligraphy and how it helps your body, mind, and soul. 
 
6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Masquerade
The main event for the Bookmans Anime Fest! Showcase your cosplay talents as you take the catwalk. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places selected by the judges.

12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Fanfic Panel 
Come and discuss the fanfiction community with five veteran authors from Tuscon! Bring some of your work, compare notes, find inspiration, and ask questions about writing or the fan fiction community in general. 
 
1:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Anime Trivia Contest 
A classic event with tons of questions exploring the entire range of the anime genre! Think you know your anime? Test your skills against others with some easy, moderate, and challenge questions!

2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Guitar Hero Mini Tourney
Space is limited, so please register early! 
 
7 p.m. - 7:50 p.m. Who's Line is it Anyway? - Anime Edition!
Join us for another unique event that will test your ability to improvise a skit with absolutely no planning! You and a partner will be given a general theme or idea and the rest is up to you! The best show wins!

8 p.m. - 9 p.m. Toybox Concert 
And the premier event to end the Anime Fest! Toybox will make an appearance at 8 p.m. For those who don't know, Toybox came from Japan to Tempe to form a J-Punk group!
