HANDPICKED: Love Is In The Air

        BY: BOOKMANS

        DONNA C, Grant/Ina Facilities Manager
Please don't forget Love Actually, I watch it as often as I can.

        ED V, Grant Store Manager
Nothing says love and romance like Fabio! *swoon* Do you feel the fire in your soul igniting? I know I do!

        SARAH M, Mesa Store Manager
        Geek Love by Katherine Dunn

        VALARIE M, Speedway Events Liaison
High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, book and movie. "Charlie, you bitch! Let's work it out!"

        SHEILA K, Tucson Community Outreach
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
The 1995 movie adaptation is just as good as the book.

        MARIO C, Grant Book Supervisor
Astral Weeks by Van Morrison is my favorite record of all time for a reason. I still love the fact that my wedding invitations used the lyrics from "The Way Young Lovers Do": "Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you / And you were for me..." On the book side I wouldn't be me if I didn't throw Tom Robbins into the mix. Both Still Life with Woodpecker and Jitterbug Perfume have great love stories at their core, amidst all of the frolicking and philosophizing. YAY!

        RYAN H, Speedway Cashier Supervisor
I liked Faked to Death by Dean James. A good movie is The Sum of Us.

        JINNIFER B, Mesa Electronics Supervisor
A General Theory of Love by Thomas Lewis
Science nerds need love too, even if it is only a chemical response wrapped
        up in social behavior.

        CHRIS W, Accountant
The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, The Blue Angel, A Tale of Two Cities, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (aka Blade Runner), Natural Born Killers, House of Flying Daggers, The Corpse Bride, Delicatessen, Sid and Nancy, Raise the Red Lantern, The Pillow Book, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover.

        TODD W, Mesa Cashier Supervisor
After much deliberation, and a twisted sense of humor, I've decided my choice for Valentine's Day would have to be Britney Spears: Heart To Heart. WHY? Do you ask yourself, this tale of tales takes us from the beginnings of a mother's love, follows her through her teenage years shedding light on the otherwise unknown hardships of one being so obviously talented, all the while teaching the reader the "Joy of Pepsi." This epic bathroom fodder follows the pop princess, (and for those who don't follow the media), concludes with an fast paced action "train wreck" sequence, I have only seen matched in the 1980s theatrical version of "Basket Case". All in all, Great Fun, 110 percent Lifetime Channel material, as well as the perfect present for the socially inept in your life.

        ELENA G, Flagstaff Music Supervisor
One of my favorite books of all time just so happens to be a sweeping, epic love story as well! The Far Pavillions by M.M. Kaye is an amazing piece of historical fiction that leaves most contemporary love stories in the dust. And as cliche as it may be....Casablanca will always be one of the best.

        FRANK S, Speedway Visual Merchandiser
Gay Love Signs is a great book for Valentine's Day. It's one of the few books that is directed towards homosexual romantic relationships.

        MIKE O, Grant Electronics Supervisor
How about R.A. Salvatore's The Thousand Orcs? Or am I just a little strange? Nothing says "I love you" like orc's blood...
