Bookmans Seeks Talent to Reinvent BookMan
The winner of local entertainment exchange’s contest will win a trip for two to Comic-Con International in San Diego
(Tucson, AZ) On Saturday, January 26, Bookmans Entertainment Exchange launches the ‘Reinvent BookMan’ contest, a chance for artists of all ages to re-imagine the company’s literacy-promoting, censorship-fighting mascot for the 21st century. The grand prize is a trip for two to the biggest pop culture event in North America, San Diego Comic-Con International 2008, July 23-27.
“Many people have grown up with the BookMan character,” said Sean Feeney, Bookmans Executive Vice President. “But, like the rest of us, sometimes you need to be revitalized, and BookMan has come to that point. With the talent in our communities, we know there will be some amazing entries.”
The winner will receive two 4-day membership passes to the convention, which include access to Preview Night on Wednesday, July 23rd, where attendees can peruse the Exhibit Hall before the event opens to the public on Thursday. Also included is round-trip airfare from Arizona to San Diego (or comparable flight vouchers), hotel accommodations for five days and four nights, a transportation allowance, and other special perks such as meet and greets with well-known comics publishers.
Three runners-up will receive $100 Bookmans gift certificates for use at any of the chain’s six Arizona stores in Tucson, Mesa, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. All entries, including those of the winners, will be featured on the company’s website, bookmans.com.
The ‘Reinvent BookMan’ contest deadline is May 1, 2008. Electronic and mail-in submissions are both welcome. Complete contest rules and details can be found at bookmans.com. The contest is also supported by the Phoenix New Times, KFMA-FM 92.1 Tucson, and PinkRaygun.com.
